The Gospel and the Way We Live

One of my primary goals as I minister at the church is to show that the Word of God speaks to every issue of life.  I desire greatly to show that the Gospel of Jesus Christ impacts the way we live in this world.  It is the message that reconciles us to God.  It is also the message that reconciles man to man. In the next few weeks, I want to show in our Sunday school adult class that the Gospel shapes how we think of poverty, sexuality, marriage, racism, immigration, abortion, orphans and widows, pornography, and persecution.  We will start a 9-10 lesson series this Sunday (April 19) on the call of the Gospel to be counter cultural when the culture we live in is counter Gospel.  I will be using David Platt's book A Compassionate Call to Counter Culture in a World of Poverty, Same-Sex Marriage, Racism, Sex Slavery, Immigration, Persecution, Abortion, Orphans, and Pornography as a guide for the series.  If you can purchase the book here, if you would like.
I pray that this series will encourage us to live in light of what God has done for us and in us through the person and work of Jesus Christ as we believe in him.
