A Faith that Covenants with God - Heb. 11:1-2, 11-19

Introduction – One of the great Protestant Reformation themes is that of 'Faith' – "The just shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17).  Martin Luther rejoiced when he discovered this verse and saw its many implications!
I.             In Covenant Baptism, Who places the sign of the Covenant on His People and their Children?  (Exodus 34:6-7)
A.   He covenants with Abram.  (Genesis 15:1-6)
B.   He proves faithful in light of the covenant's cursings and blessings.  (Genesis 15:7-21) (Hebrews 11:17-19)
II.          In Covenant Baptism, who exercises faith as the covenant sign is received from God?  (Luke 5:17-20)  By faith, we enter covenant with Him.
III.       Application – How do you and I exercise covenant faith?
·      Parents
ü pray with and for your children; read to them the very words of God;
ü correct them Biblically;
ü and bring them with you to worship and fellowship with other believers.
·      Fellow Believers
ü exercise covenant faith toward others [those inside and outside the Kingdom];
ü pray for others that they might come to salvation and grow in grace;
ü tell others about Jesus;
ü recommit yourself to employing your spiritual gifts in the Body of Christ.
