A Fruitful Vine - Ps. 128

Introduction – Meet Jenny
          I.               Do You Identify with Jenny?  Real personal fulfillment is a by-product of a God-centered life in which a person becomes and does what is pleasing to God.
II.             God's Word to the Wife and Mother in Psalm 128.
A.    God could have used hundreds of analogies to describe the woman in the family, but he chose to describe her as a vine, 3.
B.    A vine symbolized something highly desirable and worthwhile.
C.    Could our Lord have paid the wife and mother a higher compliment?
         III.           Jenny, the Vine.
A.   Jenny needed to understand and really believe this biblical truth.
B.    Jenny, and you, are pressured to judge yourselves by unbiblical standards of what makes a woman worthwhile.
C.    The standard that Jenny and you need to accept is that God in Christ has made you a vine and given you a strategic ministry to your husband and children.
D.   In some ways, you are to your family what Christ is to his people – you are a vine!
         IV.           The Fruitful Vine
A.   God not only calls a wife and mother to be a vine, he calls her to be a fruitful vine, 3.
B.    Sisters, God has put you in the world and in your family to be productive, to make an important contribution, to be a fruitful vine.
         V.             The Fruitful Vine Woman – Concrete Fruit.
A.     Perhaps no passage gives us more insight into what it means to be a fruitful vine kind of wife and mother than Pro. 31:10-31.
B.      A closer look at her fruitfulness.
          VI.           God's Perspective
A.     Christian wives and mothers are meant to be fruitful vines with their houses, Ps. 128:3.
B.      Christian wives and mothers may legitimately be involved in many things outside the home, Pro. 31, but they won't allow anything interfere with their home-orientation.
C.      Why is that? Because she has been freed by Jesus Christ to be who God created her to be.
         VII.         A Word to Husbands
A.   I am sure that you want your wife to be the fruit vine that God calls her to be.
B.    You are the gardener used by God to cultivate your wife into a fruitful vine.
Conclusion – Believe in Christ in order to be united to him, but also for every moment and every challenge of life as a woman, a wife, and a mother.
