This Week's Memory Work:  First Catechism Questions: FC 43 – How, then, can you be saved? By the Lord Jesus Christ in the covenant of grace.  FC 44 – Who was represented by Jesus in the covenant of grace? His elect people.  FC 45 – How did Jesus fulfill the covenant of grace? He kept the whole law for his people, and then was punished for all their sins. Shorter Catechism Questions:  WSC 31 – What is effectual calling? Effectual calling is the work of God's Spirit, whereby, convincing us of our sin and misery, enlightening our minds in the knowledge of Christ, and renewing our wills, he does persuade and enable us to embrace Jesus Christ, freely offered to us in the gospel.  WSC 32 – What benefits do they that are effectually called partake of in this life? They that are effectually called do in this life partake of justification, adoption, and sanctification, and the several benefits which in this life do either accompany or flow from them.
